Valentines Day | note pad, heart, pair od glasses and a cup of tea on a table

It Valentine’s Day!

It’s time for Valentines Day! Every year on this pink and red day, people all over the world send the people they love all kinds of treats, like flowers, chocolate, and cards. Origins of this holiday date back to the late 5th century, but it wasn’t viewed as a romantic day until the late 1300’s. Gradually people started to exchange poems and love letters and now it’s something most of us celebrate with the ones we love every year. Since we are having to be a little more creative with how we conduct all of our celebrations right now, it might seem like this year will be harder to celebrate, but there are still a lot of ways you can do it, and we’ve got some ideas for you!

Send your friends and family letters. The art of writing a letter is not dead! Remember when you were young and you would write to a pen pal or maybe a friend who lived far away? It’s time to bring that back. Not only is it a nice surprise, but it’s always exciting to get something in the mail that isn’t a bill!

Bake some treats. Valentines day is one of the best excuses to indulge in some sugar, not that you need a reason! Whether it’s a baked treat like some sugar cookies or maybe you love candy heart, we think you deserve something sweet.

Cook a gourmet meal. Don’t feel like going out this year? That’s okay! Especially given our current circumstances, it’s never been a better year to cook a fancy Valentines dinner at home. Maybe even find a recipe for something you’ve never cooked before. If you’re not feeling like cooking, it’s also a great day for takeout from your favorite spot.

Watch some romantic movies. Julia Roberts, anyone? Valentine’s day is a great day to really get into those romantic feelings and there’s nothing better than a nice rom com to get you by. If you’re away from your loved one or friends, most streaming services have a way to watch with your friend so you can all enjoy it together!

If you’re not a big fan of Valentine’s Day, that’s okay too, just use it as an excuse to do something nice for yourself. Also, remember that one of the best gifts to give yourself or someone else is the gift of a nice clean home. Pink Shoe Cleaning Crew is available for you, so you can enjoy some time to yourself!
