Home Care How-To Preventative Water Control

Spring is a time when yardwork starts to pop up on our radars. One more practical item that should be on everyone’s list is ensuring that all water is draining away from your home.

A few tips:

  • The ground around our homes should be sloped away from our house. If this is not the case where you live, this should become a priority. The bigger the job the more likely you will want to hire a professional.
  • Our gutters should be clear of obstructions, to prevent water damming up and pouring over the edge.
  • Gutter downspouts and spillways should all be down and correctly positioned before any rainstorms.

Another reminder tip would be to ensure that your sump pump is plugged in and ready to go, just in case all of the above aren’t enough in the event of a large rainfall.
